The FTC's
mission is to protect
consumers from fraudulent or deceptive claims that mislead consumers,
and from
harmful business practices that undermine the competitive process. The
FTC's
enforcement work is done through administrative proceedings and in
federal
court actions. The FTC cooperates with foreign authorities through
formal and
informal agreements.

Consumers
Every
citizen is a consumer and the European
Union takes great care to protect their health, safety and
economic well-being.
It promotes their rights to information and education, takes steps to
help them
safeguard their interests, and encourages them to set up and run
self-help
consumer associations.
ACCC /AU./
The
ACCC promotes competition and fair trade in the market place
to benefit
consumers, businesses and the community. It also regulates national
infrastructure services. Its primary responsibility is to ensure that
individuals and businesses comply with the Commonwealth competition,
fair
trading and consumer protection laws.
