The Lord of the Rings
film trilogy comprises 3 live-action fantasy epic films: The Lord of
the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two
Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King The
series is based on the book The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien
and is set in the fictional world of Middle-earth. The 3 films follow
the young hobbit Frodo Baggins as he and a Fellowship embark on a quest
to destroy the One Ring, and thus ensure the destruction of its maker,
the Dark Lord Sauron.
Connor MacLeod
was born in the year 1518 "in the village of Glenfinnan on the shores
of Loch Shiel." In 1536, his clan is in conflict with the Clan Fraser,
and Connor rides along into his first battle. The Frasers are working
with a towering monster of a man known as The Kurgan who has recognized
that Connor is a fellow Immortal, and hopes to use the battle to kill
Connor before he becomes aware of his abilities. On the battlefield,
Connor wonders why none of the Fraser's forces will attack him, until
he comes across the Kurgan and is struck by an odd pain. This leaves
him open to attack.
Avatar
is a 3-D science-fiction epic film directed by James Cameron. It's
Cameron's first fictional film since he directed Titanic in 1997.
Avatar is the story of a wounded ex-marine, Jake Sully, thrust
unwillingly into an effort to settle and exploit an exotic planet rich
in bio-diversity. Jake finds himself caught between the
military-industrial forces of Earth and the Na’vi, forcing
him to
choose sides in an epic battle that will decide the fate of an entire
world. He eventually crosses over to lead the indigenous race in a
battle for survival.
Harry Potter
is a series of 7 fantasy novels written by British author J. K.
Rowling. The books chronicle the adventures of the adolescent wizard
Harry Potter and his best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
The story is mostly set at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,
an academy for young wizards and witches. It focuses on Harry's
struggle against the evil wizard Lord Voldemort, who killed Harry's
parents in his quest to conquer the wizarding world.
Labyrinth
is a 1986 fantasy film, directed by Jim Henson, produced by George
Lucas, and designed by Brian Froud. Henson collaborated on the
screenwriting with children's author Dennis Lee and Monty Python
alumnus Terry Jones. The leads are David Bowie as Jareth the Goblin
King, and Jennifer Connelly as Sarah Williams. The plot revolves around
Sarah's quest to rescue her little brother from the Goblin King while
trapped in a world that is an enormous otherworldly maze. Most of the
other significant roles are played by puppets or by a combination of
puppetry and human performance.
